Frequently Asked Questions
-
No, we don’t accept insurance. We believe the insurance-based system leads to rushed, lower-quality, and more expensive healthcare. Our goal is to cut out the middlemen and work directly for our patients. This model allows us to offer proactive, unrushed, and personalized care based on what’s best for you, not what benefits insurance companies.
-
If you’re generally healthy, membership might seem unnecessary. However, quality healthcare isn’t just a 15-minute annual physical. It requires ongoing support, accountability, and consistency. Think of joining our practice like joining a gym—it’s an investment in your long-term health, and you can use it as much or as little as you need.
Health can also change suddenly due to illness, injury, or a complex diagnosis. In those moments, you’ll want a doctor who is accessible and available to guide you through the process.
Membership offers an elevated primary care experience, giving you peace of mind with direct access to a highly qualified physician whenever needed—in sickness and in health. You'll benefit from longer appointments, minimal wait times, better coordination with specialists, and same-day or next-day availability.

Yes! Ask yourself: Do you have your doctor’s cell phone number? Can you get an appointment when you need one? Do they spend more than 15 minutes with you? Have you ever received a surprise bill due to your high deductible?
At Blue Canyon, we offer quality care, accessibility, convenience, and transparency—things that insurance-based primary care often can’t provide.
-
Yes, we can arrange home visits for homebound patients. There is an additional fee of $100 per visit, and this service is available within a 15-mile radius of Northampton, MA.
-
We aim to provide hassle-free, convenient healthcare. If you need to reschedule, just let us know—there are no penalties for cancellations. However, after your first no-show, a $25 fee will be applied for each missed appointment.
-
While we offer concierge-level care, Blue Canyon Primary Care is actually a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice. Unlike traditional concierge models, DPCs don’t bill insurance or collect copays on top of membership fees. DPC is a more accessible option for patients without insurance or those who are underinsured.
-
No, appointments are required.
-
For true medical emergencies, always call 911 or go to the emergency room. For urgent or non-urgent matters, members will have several ways to contact us after hours.
-
We prefer ACH bank transfers, but we also accept credit cards. Blue Canyon Primary Care is a cashless organization.
-
There is a 3 month commitment contract. After that, you can cancel at anytime with a 30-day notice. If you decide to rejoin later, there is a $250 re-enrollment fee.
-
At this time, we do not provide vaccines. These can be obtained at your local pharmacy. Additionally, we don't offer in-office blood draws, but blood work can be done at nearby lab facilities.
-
HMO plans can be tricky with DPC. They require an in-network primary care provider to order referrals and tests for them to be covered. Since Dr. Taylor is out of network, you will need to keep an in-network PCP to manage those orders.
-
We do not treat patients with chronic daily benzodiazepines. Chronic daily opioids are only prescribed for cancer-related pain, and other diagnoses will be reviewed before membership. We do not prescribe buprenorphine or methadone.
-
To maintain a healthy work life balance, only urgent or emergent needs will be managed overnight, weekends, holidays, or after hours. All non urgent communications will be triaged and attended to on the next business day.
